PVC Removal from Medical Waste
PVC Removal from Medical Waste
The plant is designed to remove PVC from a stream of shredded medical waste in allow it to be used as an RDF.
capacity
Tonnes per Hour
Scope of Services Supplied:
The solution was made up of different components that provided a system to remove PVC from the waste stream. KMH designed and manufactured a system of conveyors to take material from the steam injected screw conveyors and deliver the material to the Redwave optical sorter. The rejected material from the Redwave is then conveyed to 1 tonne bags which are sent for landfilling. The main material stream is then conveyed to a height for the filling of truck trailers which is sent for incineration. The plant was designed and installed by KMH Systems.
The equipment in the plant includes:
- Redwave Optical Sorter
- KMH Systems Belt Conveyors
- KMH Systems Screw Conveyors
Performance:
Reduces PVC content in medical waste from 7% to <1%
Unique Innovations Relating to the Project:
Ability to identify and reduce the levels of PVC from wet medical waste through the use of optical sorting.
